From the moment in which a student has been admitted to take the Master in Computational Biology, a special reception mechanism of these is enabled. ETSIAAB and ESTII have the following reception and orientation procedures for new students, to facilitate their incorporation into the University and the master, defined in the Center's Internal Quality Assurance System:

  • Welcome ceremony: in which it is intended to present additional and complementary information to the one already exposed in the previous processes of dissemination and orientation prior to enrollment. The tutelage and mentoring plans indicated below will also be presented.
  • Mentoring: The Academic Committee of Master will assign, to each student enrolled, a Professional Mentor within the activities of the External Curricular Practices (optional activity in the Master), which will be framed within the BIOTECH2020 Program of the Department of Biotechnology-Vegetal Biology. The mentor's task is to provide the new student with guidance on the academic, social and administrative issues that he needs.
  • Curriculum Tutoring: The Academic Committee of Master will assign, to each student enrolled, a tutor from the teaching and research staff of the Master, for the entire period in which the student remains enrolled in it. The list of tutors assigned to each student enrolled will be drawn up once the enrollment process is completed, and will be available for consultation in the media that the Master's organization has at its disposal. The curricular tutor will advise the student throughout the duration of the Master's Degree in any matter related to his / her curricular trajectory.

Likewise, the assigned tutor will guide the student in those aspects that may be useful to him so that, at the time of enrolling in the Master's Thesis, he / she can have a broad and adequate vision of the academic focus of it. The aforementioned Internal Quality Assurance System includes, among its processes, a "Tutorial Process" (PR/CL/2.1/004), under which it is accepted, as an adaptation to the concrete reality of the proposed study plan in this section.

  • Academic tutorials: students may request tutorials with professors of the various subjects that constitute the master to solve their doubts.
  • UPM email account: The activation form will be available on the University's web server.
  • Information about scholarships and study grants: it will be done through the information services of the University and the Center.
  • Support service for foreign students: the ETSIAAB Student Sub-Directorate has support staff with knowledge of the English language

The Language Program for Internationalization (PROLINTER), under the Vice-Rectorate of International Relations, has been developing a flexible offer of Language Courses adapted to the specific demands of the university community. Through this Program, the UPM once again demonstrates its international spirit and its active participation in academic mobility projects within and outside the European Union.
